Registered Psychologist (NSW)

The Role

Due to a period of high growth we are seeking a suitably qualified professional Psychologist to join our New South Wales team. This is a new role, supported by an experienced team of professionals, delivering a range of psychological services to a variety of clients of all ages, including children.  The ideal candidate will have autonomy to create a new client base whilst delivering quality psychology clinical services to existing clients. 

A back ground in/and or relevant disability industry experience would be desirable, in assisting and supporting clients, their families, careers and other stakeholders, to achieve their goals through a person-centered approach of ‘choice and control’.

Essential skills and experience

  • A tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in Psychology

  • Full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia;

  • At least 2 years experience in delivering complex person-centred behaviour support services to people with a disability;

  • Demonstrated specialist skills relating to the delivery of functional behaviour assessments and the development of comprehensive behaviour support plans, with a focus on positive behaviour support, evidence informed practice and proactive strategies that fit client's needs;

  • Demonstrated experience of implementing, monitoring and reviewing complex behaviour support plans that are responsive to client's needs and with a focus on improving quality of life;

  • Demonstrated knowledge of legislation underpinning service delivery to people with a disability;

  • The ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders with a focus on providing specialist advice and delivering positive behaviour supports;

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate to clients and stakeholders of differing backgrounds; and be able to gain rapport quickly to develop effective therapeutic relationships;

  • A Working with Children’s Check and Police Clearance;

  • C class license, access to a reliable vehicle and comprehensive insurance.

  • Ability to travel interstate is required

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Disability experience and an understanding of personal centred practices;

  • Experience of NDIS plans and funding;

  • The ability to work with both children and adults is highly desired.
